FAQ

  • What should I bring?

Bring all relevant documentation with you such as injury details, referral letters, medication and medical details, relevant x-rays and ultrasound scan results or any other investigations pertinent to your condition as these documents often help hasten the process of assessment and Diagnosis.

  • What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?

Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows your physiotherapist to access the problematic body sites if needed, whilst at the same time maintaining your decency and dignity.

  • Do I need to see a doctor or have a referral before I come to physio?

No, Physiotherapists are primary health providers and are able to see patients directly without a referral or even seeing their GP. In some cases patients may have complex clinical needs where it may be prudent to see a GP. CTP, Workcover, Medicare and others may require a referral.

  • How much does it cost for treatment?

Costs vary depending on the service and duration selected. All prices are shown next to the service on the booking page. The patient will be required to pay the appropriate out of pocket gap fees where applicable. If any claims are rejected for whatever reason, the fees for that particular session will need to be paid by the patient (Please contact us for additional details about costs or quotes.).

  • Payment options? Do you have Hicaps?

We offer HICAPS facilities in-clinic, and we accept AMEX. This means you can claim through your private health insurance and other eligible providers without any hassle. It's simple: easy payments, easy claims!

Why Fit Physiotherapy Qld

  • Passion

We have been working in the physiotherapy space for over a decade, and we genuinely care about the work we do. We are committed to working alongside you as you address your concerns and work toward your goals.

  • Principle-Based

The body is a natural system that responds to natural principles. When we work with those principles — through movement, recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle — the body is generally well-placed to heal and adapt.

  • Timing

Doing the right thing at the right time matters. The order in which treatment is delivered can affect how recovery unfolds, and we aim to think carefully about that sequencing as part of your treatment plan.

  • Education

Our approach is grounded in patient education. As the saying goes, give a person a fish and you feed them for a day, teach them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime. We want you to leave each session understanding more about your condition and how to look after yourself.

  • Patient-Centred

We believe in patient-centred, physiotherapy-supported care. Our role is to assess, treat, and guide. Your role is to participate actively in your recovery. We have found that when patients are engaged in their own treatment plan, the work we do together tends to go further.

Our Four-Step Approach

  • At Fit Physiotherapy Qld, we work through four steps that guide the structure of your treatment plan. The order matters, and each step lays the foundation for the next.

Methodology

Sequential order

  • Reset

  • Restore

  • Rebuild

  • Recreate

Reset

The first step is to make sure that the nervous system and body are working together effectively. Each part of the body plays a role in movement and function, and when communication between the brain and body is disrupted, this can contribute to pain, poor function, or restricted movement over time. The reset step focuses on re-establishing that connection.

Restore

The second step is to work on joint range of motion and muscle length. We aim to support each joint moving through its available range, and to ensure muscles have adequate length to support the movements your body needs to perform.

Rebuild

The third step is to identify the muscle imbalances and areas of weakness that may be contributing to your symptoms. From there, we work with you on tailored exercises that target those specific areas. This step asks for your active participation — strengthening work takes consistent effort, and the results come from doing the exercises over time. Hands-on treatments such as stretching, hands-on therapy, laser, dry needling, or manual therapy may support recovery, but they cannot replace the strengthening work that only you can do.

Recreate

The fourth step is a gradual return to your usual life, work, or sport. By this stage, the goal is for you to move with more confidence and stability than before. We work through this return carefully, following the principle of gradual adaptation, because the body needs time to adjust to each new demand. This phased approach is designed to help reduce the likelihood of compensation patterns or re-injury.

Photobiomodulation

(Low-Level Laser Therapy)

Photobiomodulation, also known as low-level laser therapy, is one of the treatment options available at Fit Physiotherapy Qld. It is a non-invasive treatment used as part of a broader physiotherapy plan. There is emerging research suggesting it may assist with tissue healing and may help reduce pain and inflammation in certain conditions. Within physiotherapy, photobiomodulation is generally considered an adjunctive treatment — used alongside other physiotherapy interventions rather than as a stand-alone therapy. If you would like to know whether it may be suitable for your situation, please discuss it with your physiotherapist at your next appointment.

Neuromuscular Assessment and Treatment

Nervous System Integration

This is an assessment and treatment approach that aims to identify muscle imbalances and movement patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms. The assessment involves a series of movement and strength tests that help identify areas where muscles are not firing well, where compensation patterns have developed, or where movement quality has been affected. Treatment then uses hands-on techniques including soft tissue work and breath-based interventions to help support better movement patterns. If you would like to know whether this approach may suit your situation, please discuss it with your physiotherapist.

Neck, Jaw, and TMJ Assessments

Fit Physiotherapy Qld uses a structured assessment approach for patients with neck, jaw, and head-related concerns like headaches, including temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. The assessment evaluates posture, range of motion, and muscle function across the cervical spine and jaw. Because the body works as an integrated system, our approach considers how these areas relate to one another rather than treating them in isolation. From there, we develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your situation.
